3. Dubai is among the top four destinations for international travellers
Dubai ranks as the fourth most popular destination in the world for international travellers, according to MasterCard's Global Destination Cities Index, released in June 2015.
The index reveals that the emirate follows London, Bangkok and Paris, which are at numbers one, two and three, respectively.
"Since the inception of the Global Destination Cities Index in 2009, Dubai has continued to climb the ranks as an international travel destination for both business and leisure purposes," said Eyad Al Kourdi, country manager for the UAE at MasterCard. The UAE ranks first globally in the Quality of Roads Indicator in the Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016, released by the World Economic Forum last week.

5. Dubai is the top destination in the world for Muslim shopping
Dubai ranks as the number one destination for Muslims to travel to for shopping purposes, according to Mastercard's Muslim Travel Shopping Index 2015, released last month.
"Dubai tops the list of shopping destinations for Muslims outright, being recognised as the first-placed Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) MTSI 2015 destination as well as heading the list of non-OIC destinations," the report states.
The shopping index analyses the trends and preferences of Muslim travellers' shopping preferences, based on the performance of 40 main international shopping destinations against a number of set criteria.
According to the index, Dubai scored 79.5 out of 100, surpassing Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in first place with a score of 73.3, and Instabul, Turkey, in third place with a score of 64.2.

6. Dubai ranked second best city globally for expats looking to start a business
Dubai is the second-best city globally for expat entrepreneurs, reveals HSBC's Expat Explorer 2015 survey, released last month.
The cosmopolitan city follows Singapore in first place, and Hong Kong and London in third and fourth places, respectively, as good places to start a business.
"Given these supportive conditions, it's not surprising that Dubai attracts twice as many expats looking to start their own businesses (nine per cent) compared to the global average (four per cent). This is a ringing endorsement of the government's diversification efforts and its investment in setting up the infrastructure needed to nurture entrepreneurs," says Khalid Elgibali, head of retail banking and wealth management for the UAE and MENA at HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, in a statement.
7. The UAE ranks as the second most competitive country in GCC
